Ecdysis

In this two part exercise the first half is independent and the second is with a group. The first section is to design an exhibition space in which people may interact with as a part of the exhibition. The design was to be an extension of the previous spaces designed in exercise 3. What must be kept in mind is the dimensions of 15’ x 20’ and the feasibility of the actual structure. Life size mock ups were made to show how it could work materially and physically. Work was then selected by faculty and the students selected would lead groups of six people to construct a full scale section of the exhibit. The cost was limited to $500 and posters and redesigned small 1”=1’ model was required for the exhibition. All of the full scale models of the students was displayed at the end of the quarter in a public exhibition.

Exhibition Poster

For this assignment a 18” x 24” poster was to be designed on Illustrator. Interpretations of UN Studio were needed to be translated graphically using design elements of color, composition, and typography. The poster must be modular and use a monochrome or duo-chrome color scheme. These posters need to be visually compelling in order to advertise and convey the message of the final exhibition.

In this exercise a sketch model and drawings of each of the houses were made out of basswood, and then one out of the houses was chosen to make a larger scale model. The decision was made to do a 1/8”=1’ model of the Mobius House. study design methodology, circulation, parti, symmetry, and other analysis’s by drawing diagrams. Photographs, diagrams, and drawings of the houses are mounted onto a graphically organized poster.
